Cookie Craziness !

When i married my hubby , i got the most wonderful mother in law as family , who is one of the best bakers i have had the pleasure of knowing. She takes serious pride in her cookies and her cakes and many people compliment her on them.

So i thought i would go online and try to find a greek cookie recipe that she makes often and is my hubbys favorite cookie to eat. Its called a  Koulourakia. They are a plain, vanilla flavoured cookie that is great for dunking into your tea or coffee. So i found a recipe online that sounded close to hers, and i attempted it. Well they were tasty but not even close to the same. So on Christmas Day i asked her if I could have her recipe for her cookies and she happily shared it with me.

So hubby and i hit the grocery store and purchased the few ingredients ( baking ammonia powder) that i didnt have in my cupboard to try these out. The recipe my MIL makes is huge, so i cut it in half and went to it! Well mine turned out ok, ha ! ok but not like hers!  |Hers are puffy and light, and mine were more dense. I pondered it a bit and then gave up and thought i will try again in a few weeks. Laying in bed late that night I knew what i did wrong............ i rolled over and told hubby "I added too much flour ! at the very end i thought the dough was too sticky so i threw in another cup of flour. it was too much" and he said "go to sleep".

Well I am armed and ready with the ingredients to give this recipe a 2nd go. If you arent a baker, and you try something dont be discouraged, try again ! and worse case if it doesnt work out, then go to your MIL's house and steal a bunch of hers ! ha ha !
